Francesca Benati started her career in 1988 in advertising, before moving in 2006 to the FMCG segment where she spent more than 10 years working for household name companies such as Coca-Cola, Kellogg’s and The Lego Group. Her responsibilities included management roles in Marketing and Communications as well as senior leadership roles in other areas of the business.
In November 2013 Francesca joined Amadeus Italy as General Manager and Managing Director. In April 2018 she was promoted to Vice President Online Western Europe, Middle East and Africa & Managing Director Italy at Amadeus.
Francesca has a wealth of experience in travel, having managed various roles across the industry. Prior to Amadeus, in 2010 she joined lastminute.com as Managing Director for Italy and the year after as Managing Director for Italy and Spain.
In 2009 Francesca was appointed Director of the Digital and e-Commerce division of Blu Vacanze and Cisalpina Group, an eminent Italian network of leisure and business travel agencies.
In 2007, Francesca joined Expedia Group where she spent almost three years as Marketing Director and later Country Coordinator for the Italian operation.
Since 2009, Francesca has been on the board of directors of Netcomm Consortium (an Italian digital commerce association, where she represents the interests of the Travel and Tourism sector).
Francesca’s passion for travel also extends to helping students learn about the industry in her role as Lecturer for Online Travel and Tourism Management Masters at a number of institutions including: Bocconi University in Milan; IULM University of Milan; and Sant’Anna University, Pisa.
In what little spare time Francesca has left, she enjoys scuba diving and skiing along with her two teenage sons in addition to being an avid reader.
